A Passion For Snakes Pieter Potgieter
'Snakes Lives Matter, Too'

South African snakes are seldom welcome in our back yards, or in our homes!  Peter gives us a unique insight into his passion as a snake catcher in the Pietermartizburg and surrounding areas where he shares his expertise and knowledge as he catches and releases snakes, contributing towards their conservation.

Pieter has always had a keen interest and passion for all forms of wildlife, since a very young age growing up in rural Namibia. Pieter has built up decades of knowledge on various animals, insects and plants and over a ten year period working for Butterflies For Africa, undertook various snake handling courses.

When a prominent snake catcher and a very good friend, Zane Barnard, passed away recently, Pieter and his wife, Cheryl, then took it upon themselves to continue assisting the community.

"Our aim is to contribute towards conservation and education"
